How many times have you thought-others seem to have a good life while I am the only one who keeps having obstacles .I am the only one who doesn’t have any progress. Why does god not help me? What did I do suffer so much?....Well, worry no more…I know the world is saturated by people who claim to have a one time quick remedy for all your problems, and all you have to do is pay a hefty sum of money and have them chant some mantras, do a few poojas and keep a yantra at home. Well more often than not, these are just people trying to scam you out of your hard earned money.

The main factor which anchors a lot of obstacles and suffering is the negligence of a family god. Family gods are deities that have been prayed to and appeased from generation to generation in your family tree. Imagine carrying a person on your head for a 100 years and then one fine morning throwing him to the ground and never bothering to enquire or mind him. Would you expect the person to be happy about it? Of course not. Well, that’s exactly how family gods are treated nowadays. The current generation is mostly ignorant about their family god or doesn’t give due respect to the family god.

I know you must be sceptical and thinking – ‘If gods get angry and react just like humans than how are they good and hw can we consider them perfect? Arent gods only supposed to love us?’ But most of us fail to understand that a god is an entity that is mostly moulded by the human mind and soul. God appears in the form that we wish to see him/her. We inculcate our qualities and then magnify them in the particular family god through years of rituals and traditions. So inherently, a family god develops some forms of anger and destructive tendencies.

But these tendencies are exactly why we require a family god. We want that god/godess to be our guardian. We want him/her to ward off our enemies and remove obstacles. Most of our problems today are hence due to the absence of the defence of our family god around us. It is not necessary to have a huge puja or yagna annually or monthly to appease the family god. The following simple steps can easily ensure the blessings of the family god and bring you success and happiness :-

• Light a lamp twice a day daily intended for the family god. Pray in your mind to the particular god and ask for forgiveness. Seek his/her blessings on a regular basis in your mind.
• Spend a few minutes every day to chant some slokas and occasionally take part in fasting once or twice a month

• Try to pray at your family deity’s temple atleast once a year
• If possible perform a small puja at home once a year for the family god. The real puja is not very expensive. It is the unwanted modifications made by pujaris today which increases the cost by making it look more grandeur. God doesn’t need it to be grand, god measures the dedication and devotion only.

Now , that doesn’t seem like too much time or money , does it?
