Saif Ali Khan would have to hold on to his thoughts for a while. That’s because before him, it would be Imran Khan proposing love to Kareena Kapoor. He has chosen just the appropriate moment for that as well. It would happen on the weekend leading to the Valentine’s Day when he would indulge in a Short Term Shaadi with his leading love.
“It couldn’t have been a better day than this to release this young rom-com”, informs a source, “This is for the first time that Imran and Kareena are coming together and the day of their arrival was always supposed to be special. Now after much deliberation, Karan Johar and his director Shakun Batra have formed up plans for the film. It would make for a romantic Valentines outing.”
For the uninitiated, we had broken the news around a month ago that how the film, which was originally slated for October release, was all set to be moved since Kareena couldn’t have afforded two films in a single month (her Ra.One also releases this Diwali). Moreover, for Imran too it would have been too much too soon with Delhi Belly being followed by Mere Brother Ki Dulhan in quick succession.
“Kareena was facing some genuine date issues as well”, says a source close to the film, “She is over committed with a film each with Salman Khan (Bodyguard), Shah Rukh Khan (Ra.One), Saif Ali Khan (Agent Vinod) and Aamir Khan (Reema Kagti’s untitled thriller). It was in best interest of everyone for Short Term Shaadi to move ahead. Also, since they have now bagged the coveted release date, it is all the more a win-win situation for all involved.”
Incidentally, this is the first time ever that Kareena would be enjoying a Valentine day’s release. Ditto for Imran who isn’t perturbed with the delay as now he can afford to get a breather for himself. “I have finished work on Mere Brother Ki Dulhanas well so guess I can get some time off for myself for next few weeks. I was aware about Kareena facing some date issues due to her other films. Anyways that’s between her and Karan. I am cool with it.”
Well, Karan has a lot more in his plate to think about. Buzz is that Shakun isn’t too happy with the film’s title and hence a final call is yet to be taken on whether to retain it and change it from Short Term Shaadi to something else.
