We have heard of filmmakers spending loads of money on sets, costumes and marketing; but the makers of Sharman Joshi-starrer Ferrari Ki Sawaari recently spent Rs five lakh on a fruit.
A song in the yet-to-be released film Ferrari Ki Sawaari compares life to 'mausambi' (sweet lime).
According to sources, the song was being shot in Mumbai during the fruit's off-season. So it was quite a task for the production team to procure it.
They managed to arrange for Mausambi from a wholesaler, but it cost them Rs 5 Lakh
The film, directed by Rajkumar Hirani's assistant Rajesh Mapukar, stars Boman Irani too.
"We were shooting for this song in Mumbai and we were told that because of the off-season, there aren't enough fruits available for the scene....After a lot of struggle and a huge amount, we managed tons of mausambis for the song sequence," Mapukar said.
Produced by Vinod Chopra Productions, Ferrari Ki Sawaari is about a young father's endeavour to fulfil his son's dream.
The film is scheduled to be released on December 23 this year.
