Self-styled divas & Stylists Empty
PostSubject: Self-styled divas & Stylists   Self-styled divas & Stylists EmptyWed Jul 20, 2011 12:28 am

With cameras following their every move, numerous high-profile events to attend and "looking good" a firm heading in their job description, the demand for celebrity stylists is high. However, not all of the hottest stars enlist help ahead of their red carpet appearances. tabloid! looks at the stars who style themselves and the ones who employ professionals.

FLYING SOLO

Blake Lively
Flying the flag for the stars sans stylists is American beauty Blake Lively. The Gossip Girl star told Marie Claire magazine this month, "I've always loved fashion! Love it! That's why I don't need a stylist". Fashion clearly loves her too, with French fashion house Chanel announcing the 26 year old as the new face for their Mademoiselle handbag range. Additionally, the actress, rumoured to be the girlfriend of Hollywood hunk Leonardo Dicaprio, has become Stella McCartney's latest muse. She's in talks with the designer about becoming a brand ambassador.

Diane Kruger
The German actress flaunts jaw-dropping designs time and time again on the red carpet. The Unknown star told Stylist magazine "I got rid of all of them [stylists], because I just don't think a lot of people have style in Hollywood, or at least not what I like," adding, "I come from fashion, and who knows better what I like than myself?"
The former fashion model, who counts Chanel's Creative Director Karl Lagerfeld among her close friends, has admitted that long-term boyfriend, fellow actor Joshua Jackson, has evolved since they started dating. "When you are in a relationship, you want the other person to appreciate the things you like," she explains. "It sounds superficial, but it's nice."

January Jones
While January Jones may not always get it right, the Mad Men star can be commended for her bravery on the red carpet. The former Abercrombie & Fitch model, who has cherry-picked all her award-season outfits, admires '60s fashion and is an avid vintage collector. The 33 year old told fellow actor Jack Nicholson, "I think what's great about Mad Men is that it has helped bring a certain silhouette back," adding "that womanly, cinched waist…" The actress made a name for herself in the style stakes after appearing in a black Lanvin gown teamed with Neil Lane diamonds and a ribbon headband at the 2010 Golden Globes. Less than spectacular numbers include her outfit at the Emmy Awards in the same year, where she wore an Atelier Versace blue silk dress with office-like black Miu Miu heels.

Marion Cotillard
French actress Marion Cotillard consistently dominates best-dressed lists. The star, famous for her roles in Inception and La Vie en Rose, was the face of a Dior fashion campaign in 2009 and shows no sign of slowing down in the style world. Stylist Arienne Phillips told TheDailyBeast.com, "Marion is clearly working with very sophisticated and informed taste levels in terms of style and, importantly, she understands what looks good on her."

Kate Middleton
She has long shunned having a personal stylist. However, ahead of her tour of Canada and the US, the 29 year old was accompanied by personal shoppers in Selfridges and Harvey Nichols to help her pick out perfect looks. The Duchess of Cambridge is one of the most scrutinised females in the world, so is understandably keen to look her best at all times. The most recent addition to the British royal family doesn't have much to worry about. From Catherine Walker to Alexander McQueen, the newlywed's outfits have been universally well-received.

LOOKING GOOD WITH A LITTLE HELP…

Stylist Rachel Zoe
Zoe has a vast array of celebrity names on her clientele list, including stunning Cameron Diaz. Zoe describes the Bad Teacher star as a style hit. “From a fashion perspective, she’s the most grounded person I’ve ever met,” said the stylist. “She just wears what feels right.” Zoe has been caught under fire in the past for “slimming down” her clients, with socialite and The Simple Life star Nicole Richie shedding kilos after employing Zoe to dress her. Diaz assures fans this isn’t the case. When asked if Zoe had ever pressured her to lose weight, the 38-year-old told Harper’s Baazar: “Print that I laughed out loud. She’s more likely to press big dangly earrings or chunkly necklaces on you,” before adding “no one can make you do something you aren’t already predisposed to doing.” Zoe is responsible for some sensational casual and formal looks on Eva Longoria, Jennifer Garner and Anne Hathaway to name a few.

Stylists Cristina Ehrlich and Estee Stanley
Penelope Cruz enlists the help of styling duo Cristina Ehrlich and Estee Stanley to achieve her jaw-dropping red carpet looks. The two stylists admit to liking “classic, chic style,” which explains why the 37-year-old star is often seen in floor length gowns looking effortlessly chic. Among their regular clients are Demi Moore, Jessica Biel and the Olsen twins, all of whom have different and distinguishable looks. The team explain “our goal as stylists is to help each of our clients evolve their own fashion style,” adding “we never want anyone we work with to look back in ten years from now and wonder what they were thinking.”

Stylist Nicole Chavez
Scarlett Johansson is a firm favourite with the boys at AskMen.com, and consistently sizzles on the red carpet. The 25-year-old celebrity is styled by the renowned Chavez, who also counts Rachel Bilson, Kristen Bell and Katherine Heigl among her clients. The recently separated star wowed at the Oscars earlier this year in a shimmery Elie Saab gown. Chavez told CNN Living “my goal was to make her feel beautiful, happy and comfortable.” Johansson’s gorgeous gown featured on best dressed list. Chavez strives to keep her clients off the worst dressed lists, and “find the perfect fit” for her A-list fashionistas.
Stylist Monica Rose
The voluptuous Kim Kardashian employs the help of celebrity stylist Rose to achieve her sensational looks — her enviable curves. The reality TV star, who started off as a stylist in her own right, is dressed in both designer and retail duds by Rose. The stylist of six years shares her fashion finds and style inspirations on her blog, monicarosestylist.blogspot.com, attracting the attention of aspiring fashionistas and industry veterans alike. The Keeping up with the Kardashians star describes Rose as “the most amazing stylist,” who “always finds the most amazing pieces for me that fit my own taste and personal style,” on her official website, kimkardashian.celebuzz.com.

Stylist Andrea Lieberman
Gwen Stefani is famed by her fashion almost as much as her musical talent. However, the stylish star isn’t solely responsible for her iconic image. The 41-year-old has long been a client of stylist Lieberman, who additionally styles Ellen Pompeo and Drew Barrymore. The Parsons School of Design graduate, who has her own fashion label, A.L.C, introduced Stefani to haute couture clothing, which inspired the singer to launch her own fashion line in 2004. L.A.M.B has been a great success on a global scale, and Stefani has since released a second line titled Harajuku Lovers. Speaking about her own collection, Lieberman told W Magazine: “I look up to everybody I have worked with over the past 10 years.”
