| A yank V8 supercharged and tuned by Italian experts at Italtecnica for 710bhp and 880Nm of torque? Check. A carbon fibre body over a modern chassis weighing just 1,180kg total? Check. A ridiculous 600 horsepower per tonne, which is more than a Bugatti Veyron? Check. What are we talking about here, another Pagani, SSC, or maybe an actual race car? No, it’s father and son duo Ercole and Paolo Spada, who have teamed up again to take their 2008 Spada Codatronca and turn it into a striking drop-top. Well actually it’s not a drop-top because it has no top to drop, so it’s just a good old fashioned spyder they dubbed Monza. In fact, the guys were inspired by Sixties’ barchetta racing cars, which is why this one-off is totally stripped with only the bare essentials remaining, meaning it reaches 100kph from rest in first gear and three seconds. And thanks to 7.0-litres of displacement the top speed is a dizzying 335kph, which means even Monza’s lengthy straights might have an issue with containing all that velocity. The Monza is a unique car for now with only this one planned for existence, but Spada does intend to offer roadsters based on the Codatronca Coupé. They won’t be exactly the same, mind you, because the Monza is built to commemorate the legendary race track that inspired it. It was commissioned by a company called Aznom which helped with its carbon fibre and construction expertise to deck out the interior and help with the bodywork. While the Monza isn’t beautiful, it’ll certainly catch your eye rumbling past with 710 Italo-American thoroughbreds. SOURCE |
