| Subject: HAPPINESS GUIDE - Be happy, Stay Happy Sat Jul 16, 2011 11:35 pm | |
| Nobody can deny that the ultimate goal of any individual on the face of earth, whether it is a beggar, an industrialist, a politician, a teacher, a drug addict or any other individual, is to gain happiness. They may be involved in striving for money, power, pleasure or knowledge, but the essence of their aspirations and actions is a never ending quest of happiness. This makes it indispensable to clearly analyse and understand the phenomenon we call happiness. When, where and how do we get sustained happiness? To try and attach a definition, it would be easiest to say that happiness is a straight result of being satisfied. Now lets break down the parameters that are attributed to satisfaction. Satisfaction is a state of mind that can be easily achieved by sufficient patience and putting in a little thought. In this race of life, we often fail to find time to just pause and ponder over what we are and whether it is necessary. We are so busily involved in trying to reach the top floors that we do not cherish the precious moments of joy at each floor that we climbed. I am not suggesting complacency or laziness is the solution, but quite the opposite. A higher level of active awareness is required at each level of our journey in life. Thoroughly relish the little things in life. Take your time to relish the smile of a baby, the cuteness of a kitten or the comfortable feeling of sleeping on your bed. It is these little explosions of true emotions which form the larger picture of happiness. A clear conscience is an inevitable ingredient for being satisfied and keeping stress away. Try to not suppress your emotions always. Being patient is different from bearing frustration. Even if they may be feelings of annoyance or irate, try to sugar-coat them and put across the point. This helps in creating a better working environment. Never pass by an opportunity to help another fellow being. They are little escalators that god throws down for us to be closer to happiness. The contentment that comes from someone is irreplaceable. Don’t help anyone expecting something in return. Just have the satisfaction of knowing that you did it because you could. Each day recollect what good deeds you have done and praise your mind for them. Most importantly, never engage in a discussion or action that will intentionally hurt another person. These simple tweaks to character are easily implemental but result in deeply rooted happiness. Be happy, Stay Happy |
