| Subject: The Best First Impression -Tips to ace an interview Fri Jul 15, 2011 3:18 am | |
| As the well known phrase states, 'first impression is the best impression', and it really can't be refuted. From the very moment that an interviewer sets their eyes on a candidate, he/she is repeatedly scanned for a test of potential. The interviewer needs to know what vibe you sent out, the potential of growth in you and how your personality is. They can know all the information they want in less than 30 seconds, the rest of the interview is a just a review of their decision. So here are a few tips to let you have the upper edge in an interview :-
- Dress appropriately - Make sure your dress is comfortable to you and the person looking at you. Wear formal attire and keep them clean and well ironed.
- Smell Natural - Keep colognes and perfumes to a minimum , since there is a huge chance that your interviewer might be allergic to them. Just apply enough to make sure you don't stink, and for that a good bath is highly advisable
- Good Posture - Maintain a good stable posture while walking and sitting in the vicinity of the interviewer. Good posture reflects confidence and a sense of calmness.
- Basic Etiquette - Be sure you greet the interviewer appropriately. Maintain sufficient eye contact and avoid overpowering. Ask permission wherever required.
- Be Natural - It is not necessary to portray an unrealistic image, instead stick to being natural. Convey your thoughts in the most simple and precise manner possible. Make sure to think before you speak
- Selective Honesty - Don't try to lie about your career or character. The interviewer is most likely to have a copy of your relevant documents and can know the true picture from them. Also make sure you don't be too honest and let the interviewer know of a failure or weakness that they may have not noticed.
These are some easy but essential points to be followed as a general rule to present yourself as a potential winning candidate. ALL THE BEST |
